If we arrive a couple minutes after closing time will we be allowed to rent if we return on time? Sorry we will not rent to anyone after closing time for any reason.
Do you take reservations? Sorry we do not.
Do you rent when it is windy at the lake? Wind can be a big factor when navigating small watercraft. Canoes and standup paddleboards will not be available to rent with winds greater than 15 mph. Kayaks and Surrey Bikes will still be available on windy days.
How does the wait list work if all the equipment is rented? The person or group will be put on a wait list. We will notify the party three times if there is no response we will rent to the next person. If you rent 3 boats and 1 comes in that person may go out and the time for the group will start when the last persons equipment leaves the beach. Groups waiting for equipment cannot be any larger than 5 to go out at the same time. If the group is larger than 5 we will divide you into two groups and the groups will leave at two separate times.
Is there an age limit? There is an age limit of 18 to sign the release of liability. We do not allow children under one in boats. Children may have their own boat or board but must be strong enough to return the equipment when there is wind.

What is the best time to come on busy weekends? Early is better. Two o’clock is the busiest time.
Do you hold belongings? We have buckets to store clothes or shoes. We are not responsible for lost or stolen clothes or shoes.
Do you take credit cards? Yes. We accept cash, Apple pay, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover
Do you allow pets on your rentals? Pets are allowed in canoes and sit-on-top kayaks only. Pets are not allowed in the sit-inside kayaks or on the paddleboards. If you disregard or otherwise circumvent this rule you will be charged a $20 cleaning fee and may be banned from renting at our discretion.
How can I reserve the shelters? Reservations for the shelters are made through St. Louis County Parks at 314-615-4386.
Do I need a deposit? No. Everyone 18 years of age or older needs to bring a valid drivers license which will be held until the rental is returned in the same condition it was purchased.
How old do you have to be to rent? You must be 18 years old to sign the release of liability, or your legal guardian may sign for you. A liability release can be found on this website under “Release of Liability”. Each time an under age teen comes they need a new release. The under age teen may come without a parent if they have the signed release with them.
Please be aware that when signing for your underage child or teen, you are making the decision that your child is capable of going on the water by themselves. No lifeguard is on duty at the lake.
If you are bringing a group of children or teens under the age of 18 without their legal guardian, please plan ahead and have the legal guardians sign and print the release which can be found on our website.
How far is it around the lake? There are 3.7 miles of paved trail around the 320 acre lake. An additional loop around the soccer fields adds another 1.3 miles to the trail.
Why is swimming not allowed? The decision by the County to prohibit swimming has helped keep the lake clean and healthy. Because the lake is located in such a densely populated area, allowing swimming could potentially cause contamination.
What kind of equipment do you have? We rent canoes, kayaks, bicycles, and stand up paddleboards. We do not have sailboats, paddleboats, or wind surfs.
What should I wear? Shorts or swimwear. Your feet will get wet, so bring water shoes or old gym shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. In spring or fall wear rain boots to wade in the water. To keep your lap dry bring a garbage bag or raincoat or towel.
Will the Asian carp jump in my boat? You may see Asian carp jumping near your boat. On very rare occasions these fish have landed in a canoe. They are not an aggressive or biting fish and are not dangerous. The carp jump when they are disturbed in shallow water.
Can we bring our own boats on the lake and is there a charge? Yes, personal boats are allowed. There is no charge for launching your own boat.
I notice some people have gas engines on the lake. What are the rules? Gas powered engines are prohibited on the lake. The rowing club, Sailboat club, and Creve Coeur Lake Rentals are allowed to have recovery boats on the lake. Anyone may bring electric motors on the lake.
How deep is the lake? The deepest part of the lake is 40 feet. Average depth close to shore is approximately 10 feet.
Do you rent Sailboats? No
Can we fish at the lake? Yes. You must have a valid fishing license if you are at least 16. Please do not bring the fish into the boat or you will be charged a cleaning fee.
How late in the year do you stay open? We stay open until the mid-October, weather permitting.
What do you do if it rains? We will reopen if it rains for a short period. If it is lightening we close and remain closed for one half hour after the last strike. We may also close for high winds. Additionally, if it rains an hour or two before closing time, we may choose to close for the day.
If you are closed for boats do you also close for bikes? Yes.
